Beijing North Railway Station is located in Xizhimen of Xicheng District. Originally called Xizhimen Railway Station, the station was one terminal on the first railway (Jing-Zhang Railway) designed and built by Chinese people. Xizhimen Railway Station was designed by the famous railway designer Zhan Tianyou in 1908. Later, the station was renamed to the Beijing North Railway Station in 1988, and was reconstructed in 2005. On January 17, 2009, the new North Railway Station was put into use. Now the station mainly handles trains to Luanping, Qiqihar, Chifeng, Longhua, Hohhot, Tongliao,  Manzhouli, as well as bullet trains to Yanqing County in the northern suburb of Beijing. The main building of Beijing North Railway Station is a six-story building with two underground floors. The first floor on the ground and the first basement-level floor are passenger waiting rooms, equipped with ticket windows and exits and entrances to Xizhimen Subway Station of Subway Line 2, 4 and 13. The second to fifth floors hold the station's administrative offices. The station has three ticket halls and a 24 ticket windows. One ticket hall is located on the right hand side of the first floor (as you enter) and the others are on the east and west sides of the first basement level floor.

 Buses to Beijing North Railway Station:
The railway station is close to Xizhimen, Xizhimen Subway Station, Suojiafen, Xizhimenwai, Xizhimennan bus stops:
To Xizhimen Bus Stop at the northwestern corner of the railway station: Buses No. 375, 438, and 632.
To Subway Xizhimen Bus Stop at the northwestern corner of the railway station: Buses No. 26, 16, 601, 651, and Yuntong 105.
To Suojiafen Bus Stop at the northwestern corner of the railway station: Buses No. 387, 562, 693, 650, 604, 490, 21, and 392.
To Xizhimenwai Bus Stop: Buses No. 7, 808, 105, 111, 27, 206, 347, 362, 534, 634, 632, 26, 16, Yuntong 205, Yuntong 104, Yuntong 105, and Yuntong 106.
To Xizhimennan Bus Stop: Buses No. 44 (Loop-line), 800 (Loop-line), 694, 939, 86, 691, 650, 618, 604, 490, 21, 392, 387, 562, and 693. 

 The station is connected with Xizhimen City Transport Hub, close to subway stations of Subway Line 2, 4, and 13. 

 By Taxi:
Passengers can take a taxi to/from Beijing North Railway Station. The detailed charges for Beijing taxi are as follows:

Current fares for daytime operation (05:00 - 22:59)
Distance (1 km=0.62 miles) 1-3 km 3-15 km Above 15 km
Fares (CNY) 10 2 per kilometer 3 per kilometer
Current fares for night operation (23:00 - 04:59)
A 30 percent night surcharge applies from 23:00 to 4:59

 From Beijing North Railway Station to Other Railway Stations:
To Beijing Railway Station: Take Subway Line 2 at Xizhimen
To West Railway Station: Take Subway Line 2 at Xizhimen to Fuxingmen, and change to Subway Line 1 to Military Museum, and walk or take Buses No. 21 or 320 to Beijing West Railway Station.
To South Railway Station: Take Subway Line 4 at Xizhimen 

 From Beijing North Railway Station to Capital International Airport:
a) Take Subway Line 2 at Xizhimen to Dongzhimen, and change to Airport Express Subway to T2 or T3 of the airport.
b) Take Bus No. 800 (Outer loop-line) to Dongshisitiao, and change to Airport Shuttle Bus Line 2 to the airport.

Tips: There are bullet trains departing from Beijing North Railway Station to Yanqing County, via Tsinghua University, Qinghe, Shahe, Changping, and Badaling. The ticket fares for the entire trip are: CNY 23 for the first class, CNY 19 for the second class. The ticket fares to Badaling are: CNY 17 for the first class, CNY 14 for the second class.
