Forbidden City, Beijing

Day 01: Arrival in Beijing

After arrival of your flight at Beijing international airport, please collect your baggage at the luggage claming area and clear the customs. Our guide will be waiting for you at the exit holding a banner with the logo of our company and your name on it. Then we transfer you to the well-selected 4-star Holiday Inn Central Plaza Hotel for 3 nights stay. The rest of the day you will be left on your own, to relax or explore the city by yourself. You may ask your guide for some advice.

Day 02: Beijing

At about 08:30, after breakfast, there is a brief introduction in the hotel lobby and you will meet the rest of the group for the first time. We hope you will have a great time traveling together in the following days. The morning will be spent at the world-famous Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. There are always many visitors on the square as it is the symbol of our country, and where the founding ceremony of the country was held. The Forbidden City has served the royal family for over 500 years and has been witness to the changes of the nation. At noon, an a la carte lunch will be served at an elegant restaurant where you can taste the authentic Chinese food. In the afternoon, visit the Temple of Heaven which is the biggest existing architectural complex of Imperial worship of the Gods. In the evening, you will be entertained by an exciting Chinese Kung Fu Show at Red Theatre. (B+L)

Day 03: Beijing

Today be prepared to be amazed by the marvelous Great Wall! You will visit the best-preserved section, Badaling. As you need to hike for about 2 hours, a good rest overnight and a sustaining breakfast are recommended. When on the Great Wall, you and the group will have a toast to celebrate this thrilling moment. A jade factory visit is arranged next. Restaurants around this tourist site offer low service quality, so we suggest you have a big breakfast at the hotel this morning and take some snacks for your lunch. Then, the first stop for your afternoon activities is the Sacred Way. The stone statues, in pairs along the way, are the guardians of the royal tombs and the carvings are still sharp and clear after 500 years. On the way back to your hotel, you will drive by the Bird's Nest (Olympic National Stadium) and a short stop is arranged so that you can take pictures of it from a distance. (B)

Day 04: Beijing - Xian

In the morning, check out of the hotel and then visit the Summer Palace and a pearl store. This imperial palace was built in 1764 for the royal family to spend the summer. But it was burnt down during the war in 1860 and the reconstructed one was downsized due to the limited budget of the fallen dynasty. Today’s lunch is also a la carte, served at a high-class restaurant. You can enjoy the delicious Chinese food and the great atmosphere of dining among the local people. In the afternoon, take a rickshaw ride through the original Hutong alleys. You will have a chance to appreciate the old Beijing culture and visit a local family. Then take a flight to Xi'an and check in at the 5-star Sheraton Hotel. (B+L)

Day 05: Xian

The first stop in Xi'an is at the famous Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum. The site of the Terracotta Warriors is only a small part of the mausoleum of emperor Qinshihuang. It is 1.5 km away from the main tomb which has not yet been excavated. Since the warriors have been unearthed, the museum attracts more and more people from all over the world. Next, you will visit a pottery-making factory. Today's lunch is a highlight as you will visit a local family and have the a la carte lunch there cooked by the hostess. We believe this is a great chance for you to have a closer look at the Chinese people and their lives. In the afternoon, head to the Small Wild Goose Pagoda and Xian Museum. At night, a local flavor Dumpling Dinner is served and you will enjoy a splendid Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show at the same time. (B+L+D)

Day 06: Xian

This morning you will visit the Xi'an City Wall. This ancient defensive work has a history of over 600 years and is the most intact existing one of its kind. Then head to the Provincial History Museum, the first national museum in China with modern facilities. It has a collection of 370,000 items ranging from the Stone Age to the year 1840 and covering every aspect of life, especially notable as Xi'an had been the capital of 13 ancient dynasties. An a la carte lunch will be served at a local high-quality restaurant and maybe you can compare the differences of the food in different regions. In the afternoon, continue to visit the Great Mosque. Islam had been brought to Xi’an in year 651 and Hui people are one of the major minorities now. There are 21 mosques in the city and the Great Mosque is the biggest and oldest one. (B+L)

Day 07: Xian - Guilin

In the morning, say goodbye to this ancient city and take a flight of around 1.5 hour to Guilin. No lunch is arranged today. You may have a big breakfast at the hotel and have the standard airline food on the plane. Upon arrival, transfer for about 1 hour to check in the 5-star Sheraton Hotel. After a short rest, visit the the Reed Flute Cave and a sea water pearl store. This karst cave is 240 meters’ deep and will take about 40 minutes to walk through. (B)

Day 08: Guilin - Yangshuo - Guilin

The highlight of Guilin travel is the cruise along the Li River. It starts sailing at around 09:00 from Zhujiang Pier and arrives at Yangshuo at about 13:30. No matter what kind of weather it is, the vista along the Li River is always enchanting. Taking the cruise down the river, the scenery on the sides is just like an endless scroll painting passing by. Lunch box is served on the ship and please kindly note that its flavor and quality may not meet your expectation. So we suggest you have a good breakfast at the hotel before departure. When we arrive in Yangshuo, we believe you will enjoy a short trip to the villages around the town by car. When driving along the country roads, you will be enchanted by the picturesque and peaceful rural scenes. And a visit to a farmer’s family is arranged on the way. After return to Guilin, visit the Elephant Trunk Hill. The Elephant Trunk Hill is a signature sight of Guilin. Its appearance is just like an elephant drinking water by the river. Everyone who has been to Guilin takes a picture here. (B+L)

Day 09: Guilin - Shanghai

Take a morning flight to Shanghai and transfer to the 4-star Grand Mercure Shanghai Zhongya. We would like to leave a free afternoon to be arranged to your own preference. If you are tired after a week’s tour, you may rest at the hotel. But as Shanghai is an international metropolis and an outstanding representative of Chinese urban developments, we suggest that you explore the city a little by yourself. You may ask your guide for some recommendations and advice of where to go and what to have for dinner. (B)

Shanghai Pudong new area

Day 10: Shanghai

The morning excursion today includes the Shanghai Museum, the Yuyuan Garden and a silk shop. The museum has special galleries of ancient bronze, ceramics, paintings, calligraphy, sculpture, jade, coins, Ming and Qing furniture, seals and the art of minority nationalities. After getting general instructions from the guide, you may choose to visit those sections that particularly interest you. Yuyuan Garden is located in the Shanghai old town. Despite the amazing classical art of the garden itself, the Old City Temple, market and the restaurants of local flavors are also great attractions for visitors. Then you will have an a la carte farewell lunch at a popular local restaurant and taste the famous Shanghai cuisines. In the afternoon, we will take you to the Bund and Nanjing Road area. The Oriental Pearl TV Tower and Jin Mao Tower on the Bund are landmarks of the city. Nanjing Road is one of the world-famous business streets and if you would like to take some souvenirs and gifts back home, you may have a look here. But please remember to bargain. The last stop of your itinerary is an ancient cultural street, Tianzifang. It was originally a local residence area and is now a new art zone with artistic centers, exotic restaurants and bars. After returning to the hotel, your guide will say goodbye to you. (B+L)

Day 11: Departure from Shanghai

No transfer is arranged today and you need to transfer to the airport by yourself. You may ask the hotel to call the taxi for you. Please be sure to arrive at the airport 2 hours prior to your scheduled flight departure. Of course, if you would like to spend more time in our hospitable country, we will be more than happy to make the arrangements for you. (B)
