Location: Fengdu County is located at the center of the Chongqing area and is about 172 km (106.8 miles) from the downtown. Its longitude lies between 107°28′-108°12′E and latitude between 29°33′-30°16′N.

 Physical Features: With the Yangtze River running through, the county lies at the transitional zone between the eastern edge of Sichuan Basin and the surrounding hilly areas. The northern bank of Yangtze River in Fengdu is hilly while the southern bank is a higher mountainous region.

 History: Fengdu has a long history. The relics excavated in the county demonstrate that over 100,000 years ago, there were traces of human beings. Fengdu, since it was established as a county in the year of 90 during the Eastern Han Dynasty (25 - 220), has a history of more than 1,900 years. At that time it was called Pingdu County. During the Three Kingdoms Period (220 - 280), it was incorporated into Linjiang County, and later in the Sui Dynasty (581 - 618), a Fengdu County was again spilt out of the Linjiang County.

 Attractions:  Fengdu Ghost City   Snow Jade Cave 
Fengdu is the one of the most famous destinations along the Yangtze River. The mysterious Mingshan Mountain makes it known as a "Ghost City". Another attraction in the county you should not miss is the Snow Jade Cave. Other attractions include: Shuanggui Mountain Forest Park, Palace of the King of Ghost, The Inscription of King of Ghost, and Huinan Han Dynasty Tombs.

 Transportation: 
 By Bus: There are coaches from Chongqing Chaotianmen Long-distance Bus Station to Fengdu County. The bus trip takes about 2.5 hours, and the ticket is CNY 68 per person for a single trip.
 By Ship: Visitors can also take a Yangtze Cruise ship from Yichang or Chongqing, and Fengdu is usually an excursion trip during the Yangtze cruise tour. There are also direct ships from Chongqing Chaotianmen Ferry Terminal, and the trip takes 6 hours.
 By Air: The nearest airport to the county is the Chongqing Jiangbei Airport. Visitors can take a flight to Chongqing Jiangbei Airport. When you exit the airport, walk across the square and the road and take bus No. 608 to the last stop, the Chaotianmen Long-distance Bus Station. From there you can take a direct coach to Fengdu.
 By Train: There is no railway station in the county, so visitors taking a train should get off at Chongqing, and transfer to the bus to Fengdu.

 Weather: Fengdu County has a subtropical wet monsoon climate. In winter, it is cold but rains sometimes. In summer it is very hot and in spring and autumn, it is usually cool, especially in the mornings. In autumn, it rains frequently. The lack of sunshine makes the county wreathed by mists, making it feel mysterious.

 Dining and Shopping: 
Fengdu beef jerky is the most famous local snack which is made of fine beef and local special spices. Spicy Chicken is other popular dish and almost every family makes it. Other local specialties include: Ghost City Pickle, Xianjia Pickled Tofu, and Fengdu Pomelo. Restaurants are mostly located on Pingdu Avenue and Mingshan Avenue.

Fengdu Painted Wooden Dippers and Painted Leaves are famous local products. The creative local people paint colorful images of the local specialties on the wooden dippers and even on fragile leaves. In addition, the soft Fengdu Bamboo Mat will bring you a sense of cool in hot summer.
