Qutang Gorge
Qutang Gorge is the shortest but most magnificent gorge among the three. From the Baidi City to Wushan County in Chongqing, Yangtze River runs between the valleys for 8 km (4.9 miles). The narrowest section of the river is less than 100 meters (109 yards), and the widest is about 150 meters (164 yards).

Wu Gorge
Wu Gorge, with a total length of 46 km (28.6 miles), stretches from Wushan County in Chongqing to Badong County in Hubei. Since it is the most beautiful gorge among the three, Wu Gorge features deep valleys, grotesque peaks, undulating mountains, and winding waters. You seem to enter a magic fairy land when cruising through it, surrounded by mist and clouds. The excursion tour to Shennong Stream will definitely impress you with the limpid water, deep valley, and unique local custom.

Xiling Gorge
Xiling Gorge from the Fragrance Stream in Zigui to the Nanjin Pass in Yichang totals 76 km (47.2 miles). It is the longest gorge among the three. Also it is the most dangerous section of the Three Gorges because the currents are very strong as it washes up on the rocks. Xiling Gorge features small gorges in it, such as Military Books and Precious Sword, Ox Liver and Horse Lung, and Shadow Play Gorge.

The Three Gorges Hydropower-complex Project is located on the trunk stream of the Yangtze River between Chongqing and Yichang. It is the world's largest hydroenergy project contributing greatly to power generation, flood control, sediment regulation, and shipping.
