Do you know how to apply for a Chinese Visa for an American in Malaysia?
I’ m trying to contact the Chinese embassy in Malaysia, but there’s no response. Maybe someone can help answer my question. I need to get a china visa for my trip in august. I am going to KL Malaysia before then. I hold an American passport, but live in Taiwan. Am I able to get a china visa in Malaysia using my valid passport?
Required Documents for Chinese Visa Application
Basic requirements for applying for any type of Chinese visa
1. Your valid original passport which has at least one blank visa page and at least 6 months validity left before expiration.
2. One completely, correctly and legibly filled Visa Application Form of China affixed with one recent passport photo.
3. Applicants of other countries need to provide an original and a copy of Malaysian residence permit or a valid Malaysian visa.
I’m just a bit confused on the requirements for #3 (listed above) because I am not a Malaysian resident. I am just there to visit. As an American passport holder entering into the airport in KL, does that count as a valid Malaysian visa?
 Answered by Susan:
Hi Jackie, you have to provide the Malaysian residence permit if you apply the Chinese visa in Malaysia. As a temporary visitor, you can not apply the Chinese visa in Malaysia. You can entrust a local travel/visa agency in Taiwan apply the Chinese visa for you, or you can apply the visa in Hong Kong or Macau.

Is the visa a must for single Malaysian travellers to Hainan?
Hi, I'm a Malaysian. VOA only applicable to group tour, but I plan to travel to Hainan alone. Do I still require Visa? If yes, how long it takes to process?
 Answered by Bob,
VOA is not applicable to single traveler, so you need to apply the Chinese visa through the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia. The processing time is usually 4 working days.

  • We will be visiting Kunming, Dali and Lijiang, China in August 2015 and we plan to go on our own and choose the hotels when we reached there. Therefore, we are unable to book our hotels on line as we are unsure how many days are we going to stay at each place. Can we apply for Chinese Visa in Kuching General Consulate without the hotels' vouchers?
    Thank you.
