In the morning, your guide and driver will show up at the lobby of the hotel to meet you on time. If you just arrive at the airport in the early morning, please do not worry, and our guide will drive to pick you up at the airport duly. The first stop of the tour comes at Yu Garden, a classical Chinese garden filled with serenity in the bustles and hustles of the city. It was first built in 1559 during the Ming Dynasty; a span of 18 years was expended for the construction of such an elegant garden. Yu is a Chinese term with the meaning of being peaceful and safe. The garden was said to have been built by an official named Pan Yunduan, who intended to show his blessings and filial piety to his parents. Later on, as the decay of Pan’s family and the influence of the war, Yu Garden underwent the great devastation. The renovation in 1956 made it the present outlook. Now, Yu Garden scenic spot falls into 6 parts, each has its distinctive features. What salutes you a few distances away after you enter the garden is the big rockery enjoying the fame of being matchless among others in South China. It was piled up by a rock master in Ming Dynasty. You will feel like being in a mountain when inside the rockery. As you go further you will find more than you can imagine. After walking out of the Yu Garden, you may wander around the Old City God’s Temple, a bazaar lined with stalls and shops. The nice souvenirs and local flavors can be found there. It becomes especially crowded during the holidays. At noon time, your guide will take you to a well-selected restaurant to enjoy an a la carte lunch. (L)
After lunch, you will go on to visit the Bund. As the symbol of Shanghai, Bund is an epitome of Shanghai's history. The 1108 meters long street has a high concentration of the buildings of various styles, just like Gothic, Baroque, Rome, Renaissance, and Classic style. Though they were set up at different times with different styles, the overall layout and outlook are fairly harmonious. When you look around these old buildings, you can still feel the prosperity of the old Shanghai. The newly-built skyscrapers and old buildings supplement and reflect each other, which makes bund one of the favorites of the visitors. Next you will come to the Nanjing Road, known as the first commercial street in China. More than 600 shops are grouped here. The various commodities, advanced facilities, modernization management as well as the agreeable shopping environment all make contributions in making it a world-class street. You can pick up whatever you like there. Your journey will come to the end after you will be transferred to your hotel.
