Xijiang Qianhu Miao People's Village is the largest Miao People's Village in China. There are 1,288 Miao families in the village, hence the named Qianhu (one thousand families in Chinese). The most amazing scene in the village should be the thousands of stilt-houses built orderly at the hillsides, forming a huge forest of stilt-houses. 

 Location: Xijiang Qianhu Miao People's Village is located northeast of Leishan County in Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province. It is about 36 km (22.4 miles) from the Leishan County, 35 km (21.7 miles) from Kaili, and 260 km (161.6 miles) from Guiyang.

 History: According to legend, the Miao People in Xijiang are descendents of the Chiyou tribe from about 5,000 years ago. The village is also said to have a history of over 1,000 years.

 Physical Features: Xijiang Qianhu Miao People's Village is located in a valley area, where the Baishui River flows through. All the houses are built on the hillside in the northeast of the valley.

Climate
Xijiang has a subtropical mild monsoon mountain climate with an average annual temperature of 14 - 16°C (57.2 - 60.8°F). The average annual precipitation is 1,300 -1,500 mm. Xijiang has a very cool summer, so it is an idea summer resort.

Transportation
1. Buses from Kaili to Xijiang depart at the following times: 09:30, 10:30, 12:30, 14:30, and 16:00. The journey takes about 45 minutes and costs CNY 20 - 25.
2. Visitors can also get to Leishan from Kaili. Buses depart every 25 minutes from 07:00 to 17:00 hours, and the fare is around CNY 14. From Leishan to Xjiang, visitors can take buses at the Long-distance Bus Station of Leishan. It takes about 2 hours and costs CNY 10. Buses run hourly between 07:50 and 16:00 hours.
3. There are also direct buses from Langde to Xijiang. The journey takes 2 hours.
4. Taxi fare from Kaili to Xijiang costs CNY 20.
5. Hire a mini bus or taxi from Leishan to Xjiang, which costs CNY 70.

Xijiang Travel Tips
1. Entrance fee is required to enter the Xijiang Qianhu Miao Peoples' Village. Detail charges are as follows:
Xijiang Qianhu Miao People's Village: adult CNY 100; CNY 50 for students, teenagers younger than 18 and seniors between 60 and 69; free of charge for children younger than 14 or under 1.4 meters and seniors over 70 (verification needed by showing the ID Card or Senior Citizen Card. )
2. CNY 10 per person for the Xijiang Museum.
3. CNY 5 per person - electric cart ride for a single trip to the scenic area.
4. There are traditional local singing and dancing show everyday. Visitors can watch the show by presenting the day's entrance ticket. Show schedule: 11:30 - 12:10 hours and 19:30 - 20:30 hours.
5. Food: pickled vegetable, salted fish, salted meat, salted bamboo shoot, sweet wine.
6. Shopping: Miao People's Silver Ornament, Miao People's Cross-stitch Embroidery, traditional Costume of the Miao People. Visitors can purchase the hand-made silver ornaments from the famous Silversmith Village.
