Guangzhou City Bus

At present, there are around 1,000 bus lines opened in Guangzhou, including ordinary lines, tourism lines, peak express lines and long-distance lines to the suburban areas that serve at daytime, as well as night lines. Most of the buses in Guangzhou are self-service, air-conditioned and equipped with stop announcement system in mandarin, Cantonese and English. 

 Run-time: Most of the buses in the downtown areas of Guangzhou start to run around 06:00 and stop at 22:00, while those running to the suburban areas usually operate for a shorter time between 06:30 and 21:00. The night buses are in operation from 21:00 to about 06:00 of the next morning. 

 Ticket: Most of the Guangzhou buses charge CNY 1 or CNY 2 (air-conditioned) per person for the whole way. You may either pay for it by cash or by IC Card (called Yang Cheng Tong in Chinese). If you pay the fare by IC Card, you may enjoy 40% discount after using the card 15 times. Partial of the buses to the University Town or cross the Luoxi Bridge or Pazhou Bridge charge CNY3. The fare from downtown Guangzhou to Shiqiao cost CNY6, to Huandu, Conghua and Zengcheng may charge CNY10-20, and to Nanshan need CNY15-20.

Ticket fare for the night buses is CNY1.5 for the distance under 21.5 km (13 miles) per person for ordinary buses and CNY3 for air-conditioned ones, and it charges CNY 2.5 and CNY4 orderly for a trip over 21.5 km.
