Long reputed as the first commercial street of China, Shanghai's Nanjing Road is the most bustling and prosperous pedestrian commercial street in the city. With majestic buildings, various shops, mixed streams of people and splendid night scene, it is a must-visit for travelers to Shanghai.

Nanjing Road traverses the center of the city district, crossing 26 roads enroute. The road starts from the well-known Bund in the east and extends to the historical Jing'an Temple in the west, with a total length of 5.5 km (3.4 mi). It is divided into two sections - East Nanjing Road and West Nanjing Road by the Xizang Road. The street is always a source of fashionable goods in China. This is the area where you will be able to see hundreds of modern shopping malls, famous ancient shops, specialty shops and souvenir shops. Various restaurants, hotels and entertainment spots are also abound. The layout of the street is generally elegant in the east section, unique in the middle and busy in the west. The large-scale shops of East Nanjing Road concentrate around the Xizang Road. The sections around Huanghe Road and Middle Henan Road are the elite parts of the street.

There are also many large cultural buildings to see around Nanjing Road, such as the seat of the city government - People's Square, Shanghai Theatre, Shanghai Museum, Shanghai Book City and Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall. The street is open and vibrant all day with different scenes blending together. In the morning it is like a park with people enjoying various sports. The most ebullient aspect of the street is unveiled in the daytime. In the nighttime, the road is brilliantly illuminated by all kinds of beautiful lights.

A. Take Bus No. 18, 46, 49, 108, 123, 123 (Through), 145, 167, 312, 451, 518, 584, 802, 916, 925, 925B, 952, 952B, 980, Expo Line 30, Shang-Chuan Special Line, Tunnel Line (Night), Tunnel Line 3 or Xin-Chuan Special Line and get off at Renmin Square stop;
B. Take Bus No. 318 and get off at Fuzhou Road Renmin Square stop;
C. Take Bus No. 537, 802 or 930 and get off at Renmin Square Fuzhou Road stop.
 Subway: 
A. Take Subway Line 1 or 8 and get off at Renmin Square station;
B. Take Subway Line 2 and get off at Renmin Square or East Nanjing Road station;
C. Take Subway Line 10 and get off at East Nanjing Road station;
