Hangzhou has a subtropical humid climate and also presents four distinct seasons. With an average annual temperature of 16 °C (60.8 °F) or so and a mean precipitation of 1,449 millimeters (57 inches), it is quite warm and humid. Hangzhou takes on unique scenery in different seasons; and March, April, May, September and October are all better time for sightseeing.
In summer, the average temperature reaches 28.6 °C (83.5 °F), but the temperature may rise to 39.8 °C (103.6 °F) and even 42.9 °C (109.2 °F) in some districts. In winter, the average temperature is 3.6 °C (38.5 °F), while it may fall down to around -10 °C (14 °F). The rainfall is mainly concentrated in June, July and August.
