China Tour Reviews

Dear Linda,

Attached is our response to your questionnaire. We hope you find it useful and we are happy if you use it in any way on your website as we highly recommend your company.

Our guides were almost all outgoing and made certain they were serving us in the best possible way - thank you very much. They were very customer service-oriented, personable, knowledgeable, friendly, and several of them had a good sense of humor and were fun to be with. We especially liked three guides; they made our trip special:

o Robert (Tang Feng) in Beijing and the Great Wall/Ming Tombs. We laughed a lot together and he took such good care of us for the whole time, besides telling us everything we wanted to know and asked about.

o Lily (Xiao Li Guo) in Xi'an - she impressed us by keeping up-to-date on research being done on the Terra Cotta Warriors, and was very knowledgeable.

o Sandy (Song Quan-xiu) in Guilin. We spent a lot of time with him in interesting and beautiful places, and we were particularly interested to hear some stories of his own upbringing as a poor farm boy who managed to get a college education.

Our drivers were all proficient at their job. We never felt uncomfortable while driving in chaotic traffic. All cars/vans were clean and water provided. Service attitude very good. Thanks. Mr Zhang (Beijing & Great Wall driver) was very good and took us through heavy Beijing traffic, always managing to park near where we were. It took at least two hours to drive back from the Great Wall, and he never became impatient or careless. A very patient man!

The hotels were all very nice and most were as good as one would find anywhere. The rooms were very clean, staff friendly and helpful. It was wonderful to come back to a comfortable hotel when we were tired after a long day of sightseeing. The bed in New Century Hotel in Yangshuo, we understand, had a typical Chinese mattress - very hard! We had some trouble sleeping and were uncomfortable but since it was for only one night it was not a problem.

We found the meals OK but not great from a western point of view. This was not of great importance to us–no worry. There were some very interesting restaurants–we liked seeing what they looked like and how the Chinese people dine. Service at the restaurants varied. There might not be a strong tradition of friendly restaurant service, and many of the waitresses were quite young and shy. It was not a problem. We both agree the best meal we had was a lunch of kungpao chicken at a very nice garden restaurant in Beijing. We always drank Tsingtao beer–very good.

Best regards

Ward
