We're happy with the attitude with all the guides that served us. Some of the guides spoke better English than others, but none was a disappointment and communication went smoothly in a friendly manner. All the guides had a deep knowledge of the history of the places we visited and no question went unanswered. A big OK for the driver's service!
The other thing we would strongly suggest is to change the ship company on the Yangtze River Cruise. Your description of a "luxurious cruise ship" turned out to be anything but luxurious. We saw plenty of luxurious ships along the way, but ours was quite ordinary, and there were problems with the rooms every day including lack of air conditioning. We had to change our rooms 3 times when checking in due to one major problem or another, but they refused to upgrade us. The staff was truly helpful, as it was not their fault the ship was falling apart. The entertainment was very amateur and we were the only ones to have a suit and tie suggested by you for the Captain's welcome party. We therefore had to cart the suit all over China for nothing as it was never really needed. No one dressed up on that ship for anything.
To conclude we want to give you recognition for the overall well organized trip and you have made our skeptical Japanese friends believers that China has changed for the better. A special thank for having rearranged air transportation from Xian to Lhasa in a short note due to the terrible earthquake.
