Location: Temple of Mengjiangnü is located on the Fenghuang Hill in Wangfushi Village, about 6.5 km (4 miles) east of Shanhaiguan Pass.

Mengjiangnü Temple is said to have been constructed before the Song Dynasty (960 - 1279), and renovated in 1594, during the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644). In 1956, the local government had it repaired and listed it as one of the province-level cultural relic protection units in Hebei Province. Also named Zhennü Temple (the temple for a chaste woman), it was built to commemorate Meng Jiangnü according to the famous Chinese legend Meng Jiangnü's Bitter Weeping.

There are 108 flat stone stairs in front of the temple, which indicates the hardship that Meng Jiangnü faced on her way to find her husband. After ascending the stairs and walking through the gate, you will be impressed by the interesting couplet hanging on the columns of the hall which read like a piece of Chinese tongue twister and meaning that the ebb and flow tides alternate with each other, and clouds come and go every day. In the center of the front hall is the statue of Meng Jiangnü flanked by a virgin boy and a virgin girl. Walking across the hall to the back yard, you will see the Wangfu Stone which is said to be the stone on which Meng Jiangnü waited for her husband. The pavilion beside the Wangfu Stone is Zhenyi Pavilion. Standing on the pavilion, you can have a full view of the distant Great Wall and Bohai Sea. About 5 km southeast of the temple, two huge stones together, are believed to be the tomb of Meng Jiangnü.

To the north of the temple, a garden was built according to the legend, where you can learn the whole story of Meng Jiangnü from her birth. A stone cave is located to the south, where there is a spring named the Eye of the Sea which is said to be connected with Bohai Sea.
