Kunming, reputed as the 'City of Eternal Spring', boasts agreeable and temperate climate. The weather here is ideal all year round, and summer, autumn and winter are all like the kindly spring. There is not much range in the annual temperature, but it may go down by 8-10oC (46-50oF) at night. The mean annual temperature is 15oC (59oF). Even in July, it is quite cool, and averages around 20oC (68oF). In January, it is mild with an average temperature of 7.5oC (45.5oF).
It has an annual precipitation varying between 1,000-1,500 millimeters (39.4-59.1 inches). The whole year can be divided into rainy season and dry season. The rainy season lasts from May to October, and reaps the vast majority of the total rainfall in the form of showers and storms. The dry season begins at November and lasts till April of the next year. The precipitation sharply decreases, and sleet and frost might occur.
