Located on the southern bank of the Yangtze River, opposite Fengdu Ghost City, Snow Jade Cave is another famous attraction in Fengdu County. It is a karst cave on the cliff of Dragon River Gorge.

Snow Jade Cave is 1,644 meters (1,798 yards) long in total, 1,166 meters (1,275 yards) of which has been developed for tourism purposes and has been divided into six sections where visitors can see different views. The cave features snow-white and jade-like stalactites and stalagmites, hence the name Snow Jade Cave. There are four world's greatest wonders in the cave you should not miss: the stone coral forest which has the most stone corals in the world, the world's thinnest and longest stone flag, the largest stone shield of the world and the world's thickest coral skeletons.

Snow Jade Cave is one of the most unusual karst caves in the world. It is a rare snow-white cave. The pure carbonatites are enclosed in the cave and have not been polluted, so 80% of the sediments in the cave are as pure as jade and as white as snow. It is also a very young karst cave which was formed between 80,000 and 55,000 years ago. The stalactites and stalagmites started to come into shape between 10,000 and 3,300 years ago (sediments in an ordinary karst cave usually have a history of tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands years). Furthermore, the sediments in it are growing at a very rapid speed, almost 32 times faster than that of ordinary sediments in karst caves.

Walking in the cave, you are not in a lifeless cave but a lively snow white world filled with all kinds of creatures. You will see sediments of various shapes, including stone carols, shields stalagmites, stalactites, carol skeletons, stone columns, flags, hairs, birds, and fish. The water and air in Snow Jade Cave are also very special. The water is clean and pure and tastes sweet. Temperature in the cave remains 16 - 17°C (60.8 - 62.6°F) all the year round due to plenty of carbon dioxide in the air. In addition, some negative ions in the air have medication effects on some diseases, such as influenza, nasosinusitis, and asthma.
