Shanghai West Railway Station

Shanghai West Railway Station (Zhenru Station) is 5 km (3.1 miles) west of Shanghai Railway Station. It is the secondary railway station of Shanghai. Most trains traveling along the Hu (Shanghai) - Hang (Hangzhou) Line and the Hu (Shanghai) - Ning (Ningbo) Line will pass through the station. July, 1st, 2006, passenger transport service of Shanghai West Railway Station was suspended becaues it was out of reqair. In 2009, the Shanghai Government put into CNY 4 billions for the renovation. June 25th, 2010, Shanghai West Railway Station reopened as one of the major passenger transport railway stations in Shanghai.  History
Shanghai West Railway Station was called Zhenru Railway Station when it was initially put into use in the 33rd year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911). At that time, it was a small station on the Hu-Ning Railway. After the founding of the PRC, the station was expanded and became one of the main freight stations in Shanghai, along with Shanghai East Railway Station. Since 1980, the station was open to passenger transport and gradually became an assistant station for passenger transport. In January 1989, the name of the station was changed into Shanghai West Railway Station. Since the station lies on the intersection point of the Outer Ring of Hu-Hang Railway and the Hu-Ning Railway, it has become the second busiest station in Shanghai after Shanghai Railway Station.
