     Distance from the city center: 5.2 km (3.2 miles) from Huangpu River and the Bund
     Function: Shanghai Railway Station handles trains from/to all over the country, including the direct express trains and bullet trains to Beijing and Tianjin, as well as the express trains to Hong Kong.
     Transportation: Passengers can take buses or Subway Line 1, 3 or 4 from/ to Shanghai Railway Station. Besides, Shanghai Long-distance Bus Station is located right on the Northern Square of the railway staion. It is very convenient for passengers to take long-distance buses from/to neighboring cities.

    Shanghai Railway Station (Xinkezhan) is located at No. 303 of Moling Road, Zhabei District, Shanghai. As the busiest train station in Shanghai, it handles about 70 pairs of trains traveling all over the country every day. There are 9 waiting rooms and over 60 ticket windows in the station, and hundreds of ticket windows distributed throughout every district of Shanghai. Since Shanghai is one of the most important transportation hubs in China, the trains departing from Shanghai can get to many places in the country, including the direct express trains and bullet trains to Beijing and Tianjin, as well as the express trains to Hong Kong. Passengers can book the tickets over the phone or buy the tickets directly at any ticket window at the station or in the city. The phone booking number is 95105105 (in Chinese).     There are two squares in Shanghai Railway Station: the North Square and the South Square. Through the squares passengers can enter the station or go to the city by other public transportation means, such as subways and buses. Passengers can take Subway Lines 1, 3, and 4 from/to the South Square of Shanghai Railway Station. Shanghai Long-distance Bus Station is located at the Northern Square, where you can travel to the neighboring cities by long distance buses. Over one hundred bus lines depart from or pass by Shanghai Railway Station for passengers to get to any areas of Shanghai. 

    Tip: 
    Many trains departing from Shanghai Railway Station and Shanghai South Railway Station will reach the same destination, so please distinguish between the two stations before you go.
