Luggage Allowance in China

According to the regulation of Chinese airline companies, there are some limitations on the variety and size of luggage of travelers on the domestic and international flights, so please read the following tips before your China tour.  

 Luggage Size
 The maximum weights of free consigned luggage  for all domestic flights and international flights other than US, Canada, and Brazil are 40 kg (88 pounds) in the first class, 30 kg (66 pounds) in the business class and 20 kg (44 pounds) in the economy class. 

Passengers taking flights to US, Canada and Brazil are allowed to check in two pieces of luggage for free, and maximum weight and size for each piece are:

 Passengers with infant tickets purchase at 10% of adult fare are allowed to consign one piece of luggage for free. The maximum weight is 23 kg (50 pounds) and the dimension must  not exceed 115 cm (45 inches). The luggage exceeding the weight limit will be charged by 1.5% of the economy class airfare on each additional kilogram.

 Articles Prohibited being Carried or Consigned:
1. Guns and other instruments, or their parts and imitations for military and police use.
2. Explosive articles: ammunitions, fireworks, explosive equipments and materials, and their imitations.
3. Controlled knives: daggers, three-edged knives, self-lock knives, two-edged knives, long single-edged knives, and the knives used by Chinese minority ethnic groups among others.
4. Flammable and easily explosive articles: bottled oxygen and hydrogen, white phosphor, gas, alcohol and others.
5. Poisonous articles.
6. Corrosive articles, such as vitriol.
7. Radioactive articles.
8. Articles that may influence the safety of airplane, such as those have strong magnetism and irritant smells.
9. Other prohibited articles by the Chinese laws.
10.torch lighteners (common lightener is allowed in the Sino-American flights).

 Articles Prohibited from Being Placed within Consigned Luggage:
1. Small but valuable articles: cash, securities, drafts, credit cards, jewelry, camera.
2. Articles for immediate use: medicines, keys, passports, travelers cheques, business documents.
3. Irreplaceable articles: scripts, heirlooms.
4. Fragile articles: glasses, glass containers, liquids.

 Liquid Articles:
Concerning domestic flights, every passenger is allowed to take along liquids of no more than 1 L, and should open the bottle when checking. Alcohols and the liquids above the limited amount must be consigned. For international flights, or flights to Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, the maximum amount is 100 Ml. The container should be encased in a transparent bag less than 1 L. The bag will be checked separately.

Cosmetics, Shave Foams, Tooth Pastes, Liquid Medicine for Contact Lens: 
Regarding international flights, or flights heading for Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, women's perfumes, skin-protect liquids, sprayers, and other cosmetics, men's shave foams, tooth pastes, liquid medicines for contact lens should all be checked. Besides, all kinds of liquids and things with the similar density are limited. In addition, all of these articles should be placed in a transparent bag that can be enclosed again. The bag should be of the dimension of 20 cm * 20 cm (7.9 inches * 7.9 inches), no more than 1 L.

 Medicines
Medicines with prescriptions of doctors or hospitals are exempt from inspection. The quantity of the medicines should be in accordance with the need on the plane. There are No limitations on containers of medicines and the size of the encased bags. But the liquid medicines must be checked separately. Medicines without prescriptions must be in a container of 100 ml, and be placed in a transparent bag.

 Pets
Except being specially permitted by the airlines, pets should not be transported in the cabins. Passengers should ask the permission from the airlines when purchasing the ticket, and provide the quarantine certificate, and consign them on the departure date after the airlines has approved. The container should be able to protect the animal from escaping, dying and dirtying or damaging other passengers and the plane.
