Overview

Located at the south of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Nanning is an evergreen city, and has been in existence since the establishment of the 'Yong Prefecture' more than one thousand years ago. Nanning neighbors Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau and is a 'bridge' between southwestern China and southeastern Asia. It attracts thousands upon thousands of visitors every year.
Because of the moist climate, tourists can go to Nanning during any season. The most popular tourist destinations are: Mt.Qingxiu, Nanhu Lake Park, the Guangxi Ethnic Relics Center and the Ancient Town of Yangmei.
Nanning has convenient transportation modes from which visitors can choose: plane, train, freeway and ship. Tourists can easily get to Guilin to the north or Beihai to the south by these modes of transportation. On Nanning streets, city buses and taxis are available. Motor cycles are commonly hired for journeys in Nanning; car rental is available, too.
Zhongshan Road Snack Street is well-known among the locals. There, tourists can eat the delicious Laoyou Rice Noodle and other snacks like the pickled sour food. The characteristic tourist souvenirs in Nanning are Zhuang Brocade and embroidered balls. These two handicrafts are popular among the tourists.
The Zhuang minority ethnic group is the largest among the 35 minorities in Nanning. The most popular festival is the Nanning International Art Festival of Folk Songs. Special festive activities like 'scrambling for Huapao' (a hoop enlaced by red cloth) are held during this festival to express the romantic feelings of the Zhuang.
Nightlife in Nanning can be best embodied in the Zhongshan Road Snack Street. Bars or cafes can also be found on this street. Tourists can find comfortable star-rated hotels both in the city center and on the outskirts.
