Located in the north of Dunhuang City, Gansu Province, Dunhuang Han-Dynasty Great Wall was mainly built in the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - 24 AD), when the central government tried to protect the local people from enemies' invasion. Along Dunhuang Han-Dynasty Great Wall from Lingju (now Yongdeng in Gansu Province)to the West Lake in Dunhuang, there were built with beacon towers every 10 Li (3 miles), which were the place to observe the enemies and light fires to pass the signals in ancient times.
