Beijing West Railway Station opened in 1996 and is located on the Lianhuachi East Road in the Fengtai District. Handling more than 90 trains and 600,000 passengers daily, it is one of China's largest railway stations. Trains originating from this station run to most major cities in south, southwest and northwest China, including: Hong Kong, Guangzhou,Shenzheng, Wuhan, Xian, Lanzhou, Zhengzhou, Nanchang, Chengdu, Guiyang, Zhunyi, Chongqing, Changsha, Shijiazhuang, Taiyuan, Xiamen, Fuzhou, Guilin, Nanning, Hohhot, Xining, Jinan, Urumqi, Kunming, Hangzhou, and Shanghai. There are two terminals (called squares) in the West Railway Station: the Northern Square and the Southern Square, which are connected by an underground passage. Most ticket windows are located in the Northern Square, but there are a few in the Southern Square as well. There are two exits in the railway station, both on the second basement level of the Northern Square. The North Exit 1 is in the east while the North Exit 2 is in the west.

 Ticket Windows in West Railway Station:
Passengers can buy tickets four days in advance at the ticket windows in the station. Meanwhile, the ticket windows in Beijing West Railway Station also sell train tickets of Beijing Railway Station, South Railway Station, and North Railway Station 4 days in advance, as well as interline train tickets of other cities 20 days in advance.
 Northern Ticket Hall: The ticket hall is on the east side of the Northern Square, consisting of the east and west sections.
The west section sells ordinary tickets.
The east section is '036 Ticket Hall', which provides the following special ticket services:
a. Military personnel and journalists' windows
b. Senior citizens' windows
c. Direct express train ticket windows
d. Bilingual service windows
e. Station agent window which deals with ticket enquiry, complaint and endorsement
f. Group ticket window
g. Disabled's windows
h. Platform ticket windows
 Transfer Correspondence: Located at the west of North Exit 1, on the underground 2nd floor under the Northern Square, the ticket office mainly dealing with transferring signing, ticket cancelling, and ordinary ticket booking.
 Group Ticket Office: In the east side of the 2nd floor in the main building of the station, the ticket office deals with group ticket booking. Ticket Window 2 is for VIP ticket booking, and Ticket Window 6 is for tickets to Jiulong, Hong Kong.
 Ticket Offices at the Exit: Located at North Exit 1 and North Exit 2 on the underground 2nd floor under the Northern Square, the ticket offices mainly issue train tickets of Beijing Railway Station, South Railway Station, and North Railway Station, to make it is much more convenient for the passengers who need transfer to the other three railway stations in Beijing. The two ticket offices also issue train tickets of the West Railway Station.
 Southern Ticket Hall: The ticket hall is in the west side of the Southern Square. Besides ordinary tickets and group tickets booking, the ticket hall also provides the following special services:
a. Ticket windows for the intercity train between Beijing and Tianjin.
b. Group ticket windows.
c. Direct express rail ticket booking windows.
 Ticket Windows in the Waiting Rooms: At the waiting room 4, 5, 6, and 7 on the 2nd floor of the station hall, the ticket windows are mainly issue the surplus tickets of the current day.

 Special Waiting Rooms in Beijing West Railway Station:
There are several waiting rooms in the Station Hall providing special services:
a. Soft Seat Waiting Room: In the east side of the 2nd floor, it is the special waiting room for the passengers who buy the tickets for soft seats or berth.
b. Military and Group Waiting Room: In the east side of the 2nd floor, it is the special waiting room for militaries and groups.
c. 036 Waiting Room: In the west side of the 2nd floor, the waiting room is for the senior, the disabled, the young, and mothers carrying babies.
d. T27 Waiting Room: The special waiting room for passengers to Lhasa.
e. Bullet Train Waiting Room (Waiting Room 4 & 5): The special waiting room for passengers taking the bullet trains.
f. Waiting Room 13: The rest hall for passengers (equipped with air-conditioners, coaches, and TV sets).

 Other Services: 
a. Red Cap Luggage Service: There are charged 'Red Cap Luggage Service' on the 2nd floor in the Station Hall and the North 1 Exit under the Northern Square. Each piece of luggage is charged for CNY 5.
b. Carryon Luggage Service: There are luggage story counters in the east and west sides of the 2nd floor of the Station Hall and each waiting room, where luggage storage is charged by hour.
c. Fast Food: There are KFC and McDonald restaurants in the Station Hall of Beijing West Railway Station. 

Transportation

 Bus Route: Bus stops are distributed on the Northern Square, the Southern Square, and the Lianhuachi East Road on the Northern Square.
a. On the Northern Square: Buses No. 21, 52, 65, 319, 320, 373, 374, 387, Te 6, 437, 673, 695, and 802 
b. On the Southern Square: Buses No. 72, 109, 122, 53, 349, 410, 610, 927 (Interzone), 941, 982, 993, 997, and 927 (Special)
c. On Lianhuachi East Road on Northern Square: Buses No. 9, 741, 823, 40, 47, 50, 609, 301, 414, 67, 54, Te 2, 616, 661, 662, 663, 694, Tongyun 102, 901, 937 (Special), 937 (Branch), 205 (Night), 209 (Night), 212 (Night), and 213 (Night) 

 By Subway:
There is s no direct subway line to the West Railway Station, but passengers can walk to the Military Museum Subway Station to take Subway Line 1. 

 By Taxi:
Passengers can take a taxi at the east of North Exit or in the east side of the Northern Square. The detailed charges for taxi are as follows:

 Transfer from the West Railway Station to other Railway Stations:
 To Beijing Railway Station:
a. Take Buses No. 9, 673, Te 2, and 52 at the Northern Square
b. Take Bus No. 122 at the Southern Square
c. Walk from the Northern Square to West Chang'an Avenue, and take Subway Line 1 at the Military Museum Station (to Sihuidong) to Fuxingmen Station, and change to Subway Line 2 to Beijing Railway Staiton 
 To the South Railway Station:
a. Take Buses No. 53, 72, and 122 at the Southern Square
b. Take Bus No. 741 on Lianhuachi East Road Bus Stop
 To the North Railway Station:
a. Walk from the Northern Square to  West chang'an Avenue, and take Subway Line 1 at the Military Museum Station (to Sihuidong) to Fuxingmen Station, and change to Subway Line 2 to Xizhimen South Station
b. Take Bus No. 21 on the Northern Square to Xizhimen South 

 Transfer between Capital International Airport and West Railway Station: 
A. Take the subway Airport Express Line at T2 or T3 in the Capital Airport, get off at Dongzhimen Station, and change to  Line 2 to Changchun Street, and then take Bus No. 67 to the West Railway Station. 
B. Take the subway Airport Express Line at T2 or T3 in the Capital Airport, get off at Dongzhimen Station, and Change to Subway Line 2 to the Fuxingmen Station, then Line 1 to the Military Museum Station, and walk to or take Buses No. 21 or 320 to West Railway Station. 
C. Take the Airport Express Line of Beijing Subway at T2 or T3 in the Capital Airport, get off at Dongzhimen Station, and Change to Subway Line 2 to the Fuxingmen Station, then take Subway Line 1 to Gongzhufen Station, and take Buses No. 374, 437, or 373 to West Railway Station.
